# Teams

Teams provide a shared workspace for diagrams and the people who understand them. Create a team from the web app, then use its workspace as a common reference for systems, processes, product work, and operational knowledge.

## Team roles

Merfolk teams use three roles:

| Role | Typical responsibility |
| ------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| Owner | Manage the team, members, invitations, and settings |
| Editor | Work with team diagrams |
| Viewer | View team diagrams and participate in reviews where allowed |

The exact actions available to a member are enforced by the app and the team’s access policies. In practice, teams can let many people contribute context while keeping diagram changes with the editors responsible for the shared source.

## Invitations

Team owners can invite people by email and assign a role. The recipient follows the invitation link, signs in if needed, and then opens the team workspace.

If an invitation is invalid, expired, or already used, ask the team owner to send a new invitation.

## Administration

Owners can manage team members, change roles, and update team settings. Keep membership current so private team diagrams are only available to the right people.
